NIPER to organise 3-day symposium on clinical research from Feb 20

With the support of the Department of Pharmaceuticals, the National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research (NIPER) at Mohali is organising a three-day symposium on clinical research and training from February 20-22. The main goal of the symposium is to provide advancement of knowledge and skills of persons working or intending to work in clinical research field. The professionals and students associated with the pharma and biotech industry, academic institutions, regulatory agencies, clinical research organisations and healthcare industry will attend the symposium, according to the organisers. Topics like drug development process, good clinical practice, laws and regulations governing clinical trials, clinical trial scenario in the country, ethics committees, trials in paediatric populations, ADR reporting, clinical data management and managing of clinical trial programmes will be covered in the workshop by experts. The participants are expected to gain knowledge in the areas like principles and practices in medical research, clinical research study designs, laws and regulations, protocols and ethical standards, IRB and testing on human subjects, application of statistical concepts to study design, accuracy in procedure in reporting outcome, planning and managing a study site and clinical project. The experts to address the symposium include Dr Ranjit Roy Chaudhury, Dr N K Ganguly, Prof K K Talwar, Prof Roma Uppal, Prof Anil Bhansali, Prof Urmila Thatte, Dr S Chawla, Dr Vasantha Muthuswamy, Dr Bhaswat Chakravaty, Prof M I R Naidu, Dr Meenu Singh, Dr Arun Bhat, Dr C Dutt and Prof Anil Gulati, the programme coordinator Prof P Tiwari said.
