Bio Nano Consulting (BNC), a specialist bio-nanotechnology product development consultancy and the Nanotechnology Knowledge Transfer Network (NanoKTN), one of the UK's primary knowledge-based networks for micro and nanotechnologies, have in partnership with the Wellcome Trust had recently hosted Nano 4 Life Conference successfully. The conference was organised to explore how nanotechnology can further benefit life science. "The Nano 4 Life conference explored key areas within life sciences where nanotechnology offers opportunities to advance healthcare provision, improve product development and help keep the UK a leading force in this exciting technology area," said the organisers. With high quality keynote addresses from household names such as GSK, AstraZeneca and GE Healthcare, the event was significantly over-subscribed with greater than 170 registrations. Nanotechnology is widely recognised to have the potential to make a significant impact on healthcare. The conference successfully brought together leading academic and industry researchers to discuss the increasingly important intersection among nanotechnology, biotech, pharma and healthcare sectors. The conference had a very positive outlook on how the sector will be able to help solve some of the most pressing healthcare problems, such as drug resistant superbugs and major advances in cancer treatment. "It was fantastic to see so many researchers from both academia and industry come together to discuss the applications of nanotechnology in healthcare and pharma. What is more, attendance from high profile pharmaceutical companies has helped to highlight the importance of nanotechnology and how it can be used to advance today's life science sectors," said, Prof Leonard Fass, Imperial College London.
