NPPA cut prices of chloroquine salts, hikes that of famotidine

The National Pharmaceutical Pricing Authority (NPPA) has cut down the prices of two bulk drugs including chloroquine phosphate, used in treatment of malaria. But the price regulator increased the price another other bulk drug, famotidine. The price of chloroquine phosphate has been reduced from Rs 871 to Rs.861 per kg, according to a notification dated March 6. The price was fixed last time in December 2008. Like wise, the price of chloroquine sulphate came down to Rs 1230 per kg, from Rs 1244 per kg, fixed also in December last. However, the price of famotidine was hiked to Rs 1042 per kg from Rs 1218, as per the notification.
