NIPER organises workshop on data analysis

The Department of Pharmaceutical Management, National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research (NIPER) in association with SPSS, a leading global provider of predictive analytics software and solutions, recently organised a two-day workshop on data analysis at NIPER campus at SAS Nagar, Punjab. The main aim of the workshop was to impart data analytical capabilities to those who want to enhance the quality of their work by using statistics for research. The workshop focused on the effective use of SPSS software with the relevant theoretical input through hands on experience on computers. "The analysis of data plays a pivotal role in reaching towards a meaningful conclusion in this fast moving era of information technology," said, Prof Saranjit Singh, dean, NIPER. He emphasised on the importance of data tool with respect to industrial applications. "SPSS has launched its new version of the software with additional features to meet the challenges of Indian industry. It would make available version 17.0 software for evaluation for 30 days free trial," apprised L V N Rajendra, chief resource person and senior statistician, SPSS, South Asia Pvt Ltd, Bangalore. The workshop covered topics, including significance of statistical tool in research analysis, data and time transformations, data validation, sub-samples, split files, visual binning, OLAP cubes, cluster analysis, regression analysis and curve estimation. Around 95 participants attended the workshop.
