South Africa-based Efficient Microbes CC, the manufacturers of beneficial and effective micro organisms through natural, probiotic technology to support the immune system of human beings, is planning to launch its Efficient Microbes (EM) liquid health supplement in India. The product, which claims to be the only microbial product in the world to contain strains of phototrophic bacteria, is made up of three classes of micro-organisms including soil based organisms. The product contains lactic acid bacteria (commonly found in yogurt and cheeses), yeast (found in bread and bear) and phototropic bacteria, which will help the body to build a natural environment inside for the growth of effective micro organisms, according to Janson Anthony, executive director, Efficient Microbes CC. The company is currently looking for healthcare and pharmaceutical firms to partner with in India to sell the product in affordable costs. Plans are to target the lower income consumers by bringing down the price, as an effort to prevent health problems for the poor. "South Africa is a country where the population need a lot of support in preventive healthcare as majority of the people cannot afford high cost of medicine. We have found a huge potential in the Indian market also. We are keen to introduce the product in India," comments Anthony. He added that the focus is to launch the products in poor and emerging nations thought there are long term plans to launch the product in big markets of US and Europe. The modern lifestyle and the increasing presence of inorganic and chemical substances even in natural products due to the use of chemical fertilizers and pesticides in modern farming has created a huge deficiency of beneficial bacteria, which is essential for the immune system, in human body. The microbes in EM are non-harmful, non-pathogenic, not-genetically-engineered or modified (non-GMO), and not-chemically synthesized. The diverse types of bacteria present in the product will help the body to form a stable consortium which can multiply and dominate the system, claims EM officials. "The interdependency and mutually beneficial actions of these various microbes which make it possible for them to establish themselves within the human body (or any environment) and motivate the already-existing bacteria in a beneficial and regenerative direction," says Anthony. The microorganisms in EM are claimed to produce bioactive substances, vitamins, hormones, enzymes, amino acids, and antibiotics. Further, the phototropic bacteria, which plays a huge role in the growth and health of plants and soil systems, is useful to develop substances like amino acids, nucleic acids, bioactive substances and sugars, all of which promote growth and development. The company also claims that the product is an active health supplement for patients with HIV/AIDS, cancer and tumours, high blood pressure, Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS), heartburn, acid reflux in stomach etc.
