Association of Biotechnology Led Enterprises (ABLE) has partnered with Elsevier, which is the world's leading publisher of science and health information. The association is expected to provide a huge boost to innovation efforts of biotech SME (Small and medium enterprise) members of ABLE. Elsevier-ABLE partnership is about making available online, copyright cleared scientific content from Elsevier to the researchers at their desktops, in a timely and cost-effective manner, which is essential to modern day R&D. According to Shrikumar Suryanarayan, director general, ABLE, the biotech SMEs always needed the scientific information, but did not have resources for accessing it. Through the ABLE - Elsevier partnership, Elsevier's best-in class scientific information resources like ScienceDirect and Scopus will be made available to SME members of ABLE at a special pricing. ABLE would like as many small and medium biotech companies to benefit from this facility. Scientists from many Biotech start-ups and SMEs attended this meet, which marked the launch of this partnership program. Discussions were held on this offering which was later followed by a live demonstration of both ScienceDirect and Scopus at the Bangalore Bio 2009 event.
