Sanofi-aventis announced that Christian Lajoux is appointed president for sanofi-aventis in France. He was previously president and general manager of Pharmaceutical Operations in France. Christian Lajoux is a member of the Group Management Committee, and reports to Hanspeter Spek executive vice president, sanofi-aventis.
"In the context of our new operating model which is being put in place across the organization, with more diversified activities and regionalization, and in particular through the implementation of the French Management Strategic Committee, Christian Lajoux will ensure that all the Group's activities in France are coordinated in an aligned and integrated way under a clear country strategy, especially with public and private stakeholders", declared Christopher A Viehbacher, chief executive officer of sanofi-aventis.
After spending 18 years within the Sandoz Group, now Novartis, Christian Lajoux, joined sanofi-aventis in 1993, where he hold successively positions as Millot Choay director, operations manager then president and general manager for Sanofi Winthrop France and Sanofi-Synthélabo France, then president, Europe for Sanofi-Synthélabo and president and general manager of Pharmaceutical Operations in France. Since 2008, he has been President for the sanofi-aventis French Strategic Committee.
Since 2006, Christian Lajoux has been president of the French Pharmaceutical Companies Association (LEEM - Les Entreprises du Médicament). He is a Member of the French Council for Heatlh Insurance - Haut Conseil pour l'Avenir de l'Assurance Maladie, president of the French Federation of Health Industries, Board Member of INSERM, the National Institute for Health and Medical Research, and AFSSAPS, the French Health agency. Christian Lajoux holds a Master Degree in Philosophy from Nancy University, and an Advanced Management degree from Paris IAE. He is an Officer of the French Légion.
