Prodesse Inc, a molecular diagnostics company focused on infectious disease, has taken worldwide, non-exclusive sublicenses with Abbott for the Caskey (US No 5,582,989) and Stanbridge (US No 5,851,767) patents. These patents were exclusively licensed to Abbott, with the right to grant sublicenses, by the Baylor College of Medicine and the University of California, respectively. The Caskey patent covers molecular multiplexing and the Stanbridge patent covers molecular detection of prokaryotic organisms, virtually all of which are bacteria. The licenses further expand Prodesse's intellectual property portfolio of real-time multiplexing patents, allowing the company to continue to develop and commercialize its expansive molecular diagnostics assay menu. Prodesse is a biotechnology company focused on developing molecular diagnostic reagents for a variety of infectious disease applications. The company's products are designed based on a combination of Prodesse's patented technologies and other licensed technologies.
