GEA Pharma Systems has introduced the Courtoy MODUL P Tablet Press (P for Pilot Scale) to meet the demand for increased flexibility and product containment when working with potent compounds, especially with regards to small scale tablet presses. The MODUL Tablet Press concept has been on the market for a few years. It is a well accepted design and concept that is featured in more than 70 installations. Key elements of the design include: The ease of removing the Exchangeable Compression Module (ECM) from which the product cannot escape. This eliminates the need to clean the inside and outside of the press and the room. Which results in increased operator safety and a reduction in cleaning time of up to 50 per cent. The ECM for the Modul P is available for all tooling types and more importantly, it serves various applications. These include a dust tight ECM down to 10 mcgr/m3 for single layer tabletting, a washable ECM down to 0.5 mcgr/m3 for single layer tabletting, a dust tight ECM down to 10 mcgr/m3 for bi-layer tabletting and a washable ECM down to 0.5 mcgr/m3 for bi-layer tabletting. An important feature of the MODUL P is that the basic machine remains the same; only the selection of the ECM is required. Unlike other presses the MODUL P can be turned into a single layer, a bi-layer machine or even a completely contained press with wash-off-line capability; just by changing the ECM. In addition, the MODUL P Compression Technology allows for full control of the compression profile at pre and main compression. This enables the user to use any kind of tooling and still maintain the same dwell time as pre-set in the control system independent of the rotationation speed of the turret. This significant advantage enables the MODUL P to replicate every known tablet press as well as an easy scale up and the ability to compress each individual tablet to the same hardness.
