The Tamil Nadu Medicinal Plant Farms & Herbal Medicine Corporation Ltd (TAMPCOL), a state government undertaking, has once again brought out the herbal rejuvenator, Laboob Sagheer, to treat infertility among men. The Unani product is now available only at Tampcol's own department run retail outlet in the Anna Hospital Campus, in Chennai. The first batch of Laboob Sagheer, the herbal Viagra, was launched in April this year. But the stocks had run out within days, said G Ramanathan, marketing manger of Tampcol. "Sixteen tones of the herb-based aphrodisiac Laboob Sagheer was sold out in two months from a single outlet. Tampcol has now produced it for a second time by sourcing the raw material and worked day and night with sixty personnel to bring out the product," he said. He said people were going after some fake aphrodisiacs after seeing advertisements by private Siddha and Ayurveda practitioners who had promised cure for erectile dysfunction. To save the people from such fake medicines, the government owned Tampcol has produced the Unani product, which has no side effects. He said the herbal Viagra is prescribed for those who suffer from nervous weakness and the normal dose is one teaspoon (in halwa form) and taken along with milk early in the morning. The product is sold in 100 gm and 500 gm packets, and is priced at Rs 28 and Rs 140. Sources form the company said it is looking for dealers from throughout India. However, enquiries have started pouring in from South East Asia, Middle East, Europe and the United States. In the state, the product will be distributed by Tampcol through its network, they said. The aphrodisiac Laboob Sagheer contains badam, akhroot, pista and dry fruits acting on the tone of muscles in nervous system, resulting in the product functioning as an aphrodisiac. Recently the Company has got license to manufacture ten more Unani products to treat skin and digestive diseases. Currently Tampcol is producing 62 Siddha, 14 Ayurveda and seven Unani medicines.
