Standing committees on health, chemicals, science and technology reconstituted

The Standing committees attached to the ministries of chemicals & fertilisers, health and science & technology, which hold key role in making and amending the policies related to the pharma and healthcare sectors, have been reconstituted, along with a few other panels. Samajwadi Party leader Amar Singh will stay on as the chairman of the house panel for health and family welfare, which will have a decisive role in guiding the course of many important bills like CDA bill during the future sessions of the present Parliament and channelling the views of the pharma industry on these matters. Ananth Kumar of BJP will be the chairman of the committee on Chemicals and Fertilisers while T Subbarami Reddy has been nominated as the chairman of standing committee on science and technology, environment and forests. All the three panels were reconstituted on August 31, along with a few other committees. While the committee on science and technology is scheduled to meet on September 10 to chalk out the future course of action, other panels are also expected to hold their first meetings very soon and begin the important works pending along with the new issues, sources said. Apart from Amar Singh, nine others from the Rajya Sabha have been nominated in the 31-member committee on health. Balbir Punj, Prabhakar B. Kore, Viplove Thakur, Radhakant Nayak, Janardan Dwivedi, M.A.M. Ramaswamy, Anbumani Ramadoss, Brinda Karat, and Vasanthi Stanley are the members from the Upper House. The Lok Sabha Members in the panel include Chinta Mohan, J M Aron Rashid, Sarika Devendra Singh Bahel, Vijya Bahuguna, Tabassum HAsn, Dr Sanjay Jaiswal, Dr N Kristappa, Dr Tarun Mandal, Dr Jyoti Mirdha, Jayashreeben Patel, R K Singh Patel, M K Raghavan, Dr Anup Kumar Saha, Meena Singh, Dr Arvind Kumar Sharma, Pradeep Kumar Singh and Ratan Singh. The RS members in the panel on chemicals are C P Thakur, Raghunandan Sharma, Brijlal Khabri, Jesudasu Seelam, Raj Mohinder Singh Majitha, Mahendra Sahni, A.A. Jinnah and Biswajit Daimary. Those members from the Lower House apart from Ananth Kumar are Sushmita Bauri, Prabhatsinh PChauhan, K D Deshmukh, Madhu Koda, N Peethambara Kurup, Baidyanath Prasad Mahato, Nagorao Dudhgaonkar, Ponnam Prabhakar, Ashok Kumar Rawat, Tufani Saroj, Sureshkumar Shetkar, Ajit Singh, N Cheluvarya Swamy and Narendra Singh Tomar. Six posts in the panel are vacant and will be nominated from Lok Sabha.
