HCG Curie-Abdur Razzaque Ansari Cancer Institute to provide cancer treatment across eastern region

HCG Curie-Abdur Razzaque Ansari Cancer Institute, part of HealthCare Global Enterprises Ltd (HCG) at Ranchi will offer comprehensive cancer care to patients in the eastern states in the country. The oncology care major has installed the first Image Guided Radiotherapy (IGRT) equipment for the eastern region. The 100-bedded facility with two operation theatres, Linear Accelerator, Three Dimensional Conformal Radiotherapy (3DCRT), Intensity Modulated Radiotherapy (IMRT), Brachytherapy (HDR) besides IGRT would also have city care centre at GEL Church Complex, A C Market, Ranchi. The facility was dedicated to the nation by vice president of India M Hamid Ansari, Governor of Jharkhand K Sankaranarayanan, and Union minister for food processing industries, Subodh Kant Sahay here last evening. There is an increasing number of new cases being reported and it is higher than TB, diabetes and malaria combined. Going by the rising incidence of cancer affecting over three million people annually, the disease is expected to become the number one killer by 2012. Through its 'Hub and Spoke' model along with the state-of-the-art Radiation Therapy Unit in place, the hospital has a team of trained radiation, surgical and medical oncologists to provide best of the class treatment. We intend to make this facility a centre of excellence and provide quality and ethical treatment at an affordable cost, stated Dr Ajai Kumar, chairman & CEO, HCG. The Indian ingenuity of managing with minimal cost structure and delivering more is facilitating us to provide high end radio therapy at affordable cost. HCG also offered the recently launched Sarva Cancer Chikitsa Yojanato help patients access the centre for early diagnosis. HCG is willing to explore the public private partnership (PPP) model both at the State and National level and indicated willingness to jointly work with various State Governments and also non-government organisations to make cancer treatment accessible to all segments of the society, he added.
