More than 5500 visitors and 250 exhibitors including eight from China and four from Taiwan participated in the fourth edition of 'MediCall 2009', exhibition and medical equipment trade fair held in Chennai Trade Centre (CTC) recently.
The exhibition was organized by MEDEXPERT, a Chennai based company hosting trade shows and events of pharmaceutical and healthcare industry.
This was the first time the organizers chose CTC as the venue for the fair. The previous three shows in 2006, 07 and 08 were conducted in the Rajamuthaiah Hall, said Dr. S.Manivannan, Chairman of MedExpert. The fourth edition of Medicall was inaugurated by Mr.V.K.Subburaj, Secretary of health and family welfare, Government of Tamil Nadu.
The show provided opportunities for physicians and surgeons in increasing their knowledge, sharing ideas and experience and in updating the latest techniques of all kinds of medical equipment and other hospital need items. Further it provided a unique opportunity for the industry professionals to interact with doctors.
Dr. Manivannan said there was a considerable increase in attendance from the previous years. Medical professionals from various fields such as surgeons, specialists, research fellows, hospital administrators, distributors as well as hospital owners and manufacturers of equipment and laboratory instruments made it a tremendous success. It provided an overview over the products offered by manufacturers of medical and surgical equipment with latest technologies . The manufacturers and distributors who participated in the fair expressed their eagerness to popularize the state-of-the-art instruments before the visitors and to generate opportunities to promote the products as well as to search out the assistance of the service providers.
"Overall, the exhibition focused on hospital, pharmaceutical, medical and rehabilitation equipment & supplies and served as an excellent platform for medical suppliers, industry professionals, government bodies, hospital administrators, doctors, nurses and other healthcare professionals", he said.
"MediCall was organized four years back with the idea of bringing all the stake holders of medical industry at one platform. There were interesting seminars on hospital management and infrastructure that was also attracted by many potential buyers. More than 12 international participants attended the show. For the first time concurrent Lab Expo called Medicallab was organized. An international seminar on CAP Certification was also organized during Medicallab' he said.
