Wockhardt Hospitals unveiled a programme called - 'Health First' for safety of Mumbai policemen. This programme is dedicated to the Mumbai police fraternity to support and take care of their emergency health requirement. Under this programme Wockhardt Hospitals will provide First Aid Boxes in 300 police stations across the city and will also have a training module to train the policemen on handling medical emergencies.
Speaking on the occasion Dr Lloyd Nazareth, chief operating officer, Wockhardt Hospitals said, "In a service of policemen medical emergencies are inevitable. However if these emergencies are not handled with immediate attention may lead to disastrous results later. In order to avoid any kind of catastrophic outcomes at a later stage and to handle medical emergencies at the time of occurrence Wockhardt Hospitals has taken an initiative through the launch of health first for providing first aid medical assistance to the police community of Mumbai. Not only that we are also extending our support to the police fraternity across Mumbai by organizing training sessions for the policemen on handling emergencies. We believe this association will help our courageous countryman to perform their duty effectively without compromising their medical needs. "
Addressing the media, Sandeep Bishnoi, additional commissioner of Mumbai Police said, "We are glad to be associated with a well known healthcare provider like Wockhardt Hospitals. Due to the nature of our job many of our servicemen faces medical emergency situation on a day to day level and many a times the emergency goes unnoticed. "On an average four people die of accidents everyday in Mumbai. If First Aid is made available to them at the right time, we could have saved a lot of Lives. The first aid boxes will be placed in 300 police stations across Mumbai as well as in Combat vans and police vans. The First Aid Guide will cover various emergency situations and ways to handle them.
