HCG installs Linac at Malnad region, to help cancer patients in 7 districts

HCG Malnad Hospital & Institute of Oncology, a tertiary health service provider & subsidiary of HealthCare Global Enterprises Limited (HCG) has now installed the Linac Centre in the Malnad region in Karnataka which covers seven districts of Shimoga, Chikkamaglur, Chitradurga, Davanagere, Haveri, Dakshina and North Canara. The LINAC Centre at HCG Malnad Hospital is the only hi-tech facility in the region and would facilitate patients to get specialized treatment under the supervision of highly qualified & experienced doctors. The facility will now provide affordable cancer care. It will also be more easier for patients in the seven districts to go for treatment at Shimoga rather than travel all the way to Bangalore. Detailing the features of the LINAC centre Dr Ajai Kumar, chairman & CEO, HCG, said, "We are continuously upgrading the radiation facilities across its network by installing Linear Accelerators and migrating out of Cobalt therapy. LINAC delivers better radio therapy by reducing the side effects and higher dose to the tumour with higher precision. In its process it gives better cosmetic effects, lesser bone and soft tissue damage. Also the treatment planning and technique is supported and supervised remotely by HCG from its Central Physics Work Station at Bangalore by an excellent team of professionals."
