A new organization for ayurvedic manufacturers, Federation of Ayurvedic Medicines Manufacturers (FOAMM), was formed in Kerala last month with headquarters in Thiruvananthapuram. The 25-year-old Ayurvedic Medicinal Manufacturers of India (AMMOI) is already existing.
C S Sreenivasan, proprietor of Sri Bhagathi Madam Ayurveda Nikethanam, Thrissur has been elected as the president of FOAMM. The new organization claims it has a membership of 112 ayurvedic manufacturing companies in the state.
When contacted, Dr D Ramanathan, general secretary of AMMOI said that there is no split in his organization and it is functioning smoothly.
Speaking to Pharmabiz, Sreenivasan said that his organization is geared towards providing professional and business development services to the manufacturers of ayurvedic medicines in Kerala. He said that the new body was the result of the concerns of a group of manufacturers interested in the healthy growth of ayurvedic system. There has been discontentment among many manufacturers about the current leadership of AMMOI.
FOAMM has claimed that it has a significant number of members in all the 14 districts in the state. The new organization has received its registration recently. The formal inauguration of the FOAMM head office in Thiruvananthapuram would be held in the end of this month.
