21 M Pharm students selected for this year’s M Pharm Scholarship Awards

Twenty one final year M Pharm students from various Colleges of Pharmacy in Tamil Nadu have been selected for this year’s M.Pharm Scholarship Awards instituted by Tamil Nadu Pharmaceutical Sciences Welfare Trust. The scholarships are given for the project work undertaken by the students. The awards and certificates were distributed in two functions held separately in Coimbatore and in Chennai. In Chennai the awards were given away by V K Subburaju, principal secretary, Health and Family Welfare Government of Tamil Nadu. In Coimbatore the ceremony was held during the Valedictory functions of the 48th National Pharmacy Week Celebrations conducted at the College of Pharmacy, Sri Ramachandra Institute of Paramedical Sciences on November 30. “This was the 12th year of these awards. This year we have received 252 applications from seven different branches of Pharmacy from 19 Colleges. 242 synopses were sent to Dr Sasmal, professor Head of Dept of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Birla Institute of Technology, Ranchi, and his team for evaluation. Based on the result, twenty one students have been selected for award for scholarships,” said Pratima Mathur, deputy director, Pharma Information centre of the Trust. Three scholarships are given for seven branches of Pharmaceutical Sciences with first, second and third ranks. The first rank carries Rs 8000, second rank, Rs 7000 and Rs 6000 for the third rank. Pharmaceutics, Pharmaceutical Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Analysis, Pharmacology, Pharmacognosy, Pharmacy Practice and Biotechnology are the branches in which scholarships were awarded. B Arul Kumar of PSG College of Pharmacy, Coimbatore has won the first rank of scholarship for the branch Pharmaceutics, Brito S Raj of Periyar College, Trichy won the second rank. The third rank holder is Nithyananth M of PSG College of Pharmacy, Coimbatore. In Pharmaceutical Chemistry, the first winner is V Muralidharan from JSS College of Pharmacy, Ootty, the second rank goes to CP Padmaraj of SRIPMS of Coimbatore and S Purnima from the same college bagged the third rank. Anil Dubala from JSS College of Pharmacy is the first rank holder for Pharmaceutical Analysis and M Somasundaram from Adhiparasakthi College of Pharmacy, Melmaravathur ranked second. D Jotheswari from the same college bagged the third rank. In Pharmacology, the first rank goes to Austin Paul Joseph of SRIPMS, Coimbatore and Partha Deb Roy from JSS College has been selected for the second rank. Patil Mohan Yashwanth from JSS College is the third winner. In Pharmacognocy the first rank for scholarship was given to Divya D of Vel’s College of Pharmacy, Chennai and Raveesha Peeriga of JSS College has been chosen for the second. Priyanka Dwarampudi of JSS College is the third winner. In the branch of Pharmacy Practice, the first rank was given to Jose Francis of JSS College of Pharmacy, Ootty, and B Vinoth Kumar from Periyar College, Trichy got the second award. S. Sarumathy from Periyar College, Trichy bagged the third rank.
