Fortis Malar Hospital net moves up smartly

Fortis Malar Hospitals Ltd, a subsidiary of Fortis Healthcare, has recorded impressive performance during the quarter ended December 2009 and its total income increased by 112 per cent to Rs17.3 crore. Its EBIDTA for the quarter stood at Rs 2.2 crore, a growth of 299 per cent and its net profit stood at Rs 1.11 crore a growth of 445 per cent compared to the corresponding period of the previous year. During this quarter, the company changed its name from Malar Hospitals Ltd to Fortis Malar Hospitals Ltd. The Cardiac Medical programme continued to show steady growth in terms of number of complex cases and revenues. The other medical specialties mainly neurosciences, gynaecology and multi-specialty services also experienced significant increase in footfalls. The company, during the quarter, continued to invest on the renovation and up gradation of the hospital, and has completed the façade work of the hospital to give an improved look and feel. Commenting on the results, Shivinder Mohan Singh, chairman, Fortis Malar, said, “The consistent growth in revenues and profits reported by Fortis Malar in last ~2 years amply demonstrate the success of our approach to distinctive patient care. We believe that with improved medical programmes and renovated infrastructure and services, the company is well poised for continued exciting growth in future as well.” He added, “We are confident that the coming years will see the Fortis network emerging as a leading healthcare delivery player in Southern India.”
