Micro Labs Limited, Karnataka’s leading pharma formulation and active pharmaceutical ingredient manufacturer, has bagged three awards from the Indian Drug Manufacturers Association (IDMA). These include Gold and Silver Quality Excellence Awards 2009, for formulation units which have registered a turnover above Rs. 100 crore.
The company has been receiving this award consecutively. Of course, this time, we have taken a clean hat-trick with 3 awards for its Quality Systems and practices, said Jayaraj G, senior vice-president, marketing and corporate communications, Micro Labs Limited.
It received a Gold award for its manufacturing facility at Baddi and two silver awards for its cephalosporin facility and Eye Drops facility in Bangalore. The awards were given away at the 48th Annual Day of the IDMA, held in Mumbai on January 16, 2010.
The awards were presented by BS Jharwar, chairman, National Pharmaceutical Pricing Authority (NPPA) and Devender Choudhary, joint secretary Dept of Pharmaceuticals. Both Dilip Surana, chairman & managing director, Micro Labs Limited and Prakash Mudha, vice-president, manufacturing & corporate projects were present to receive the awards.
Bangalore-based Micro Labs Ltd. in fiscal 2008-09 registered earnings to the tune of Rs. 1,200 crore. The company exports to 60 countries including regulated markets. In the domestic market, company’s therapeutic presence covers cardiology, diabetology, fever-pain management, anti-infectives, neuro-psychiatry , dermatology and ophthalmology, besides its recent entry into the nephrology segment.
