Indian Pharmaceutical Assn Convention 2010 to start from March 12

The Second Indian Pharmaceutical Association Convention-2010 and Indian Congress of Pharmacy & Pharmaceutical Sciences-2010, the mega events of the Indian Pharma sector, will be conducted in Chennai from March 12 to 14 this year. The three day Convention scheduled on March 13 at Sri Ramachandra University, Porur, is expected to attract over 2000 delegates from with in the country and abroad, according to J Jayaseelan, the Local Organizing secretary of the Convention. This year the theme of the convention is “India—Surging Forward as the Global Pharma Destination”.On March 12, there will be a Satellite workshop on stability testing for global submission by IPA-regulatory affairs division and IPA Tamil Nadu branch in association with the American Association of pharmaceutical scientists. About 100 scientific papers would be presented at the various plenary and technical sessions. The delegates would include Regulatory & Industry Professionals, Community Pharmacists and Hospital Pharmacists, Academicians, Students and Researchers. While speaking to Pharmabiz, Jayaseelan said, “The convention would provide a platform do discuss several technical issues that would impact global submission and provide a framework for developing an effective stability program. It comprises of several sessions organized to explore different stability related changes, such as monitoring impurities, setting specifications, developing and validating stability indicating methods, investigating OOS results, managing risk and global regulations pertaining to stability studies.” The session will also discuss the stability challenges for biologics and new product technologies such as iontophoretic patches, microporation systems and other emerging drug-device and drug-biologic-device type combination products and fixed-dose combinations. He said the meeting will benefit scientists and managers having responsibilities in a variety of functions relating to drug development, including process development, formulation and analytical development, regulatory affairs and production. On March 13, the first plenary lectures will cover ‘the Case for Global Reform in Pharmacy Education, Pharmacist Role in realizing MDG, and Strategies for Developing India as Global Pharmaceutical Education Hub. The three day convention is organized by Indian Pharmaceutical Association. S V Veeramani, CMD of Fourrts Laboratories is the chairman of the Organizing Committee.
