Tectura India has installed its life sciences solution based on Microsoft Dynamics NAV at the Mumbai-based Naprod Life Sciences, an oncology formulations major in the country. The ERP solution streamlines internal processes and provides better management decisions.
The oncology major required an advanced information technology solution to speed up its processes. It was using Tally for Finance and Microsoft Excel for production planning & scheduling. The entry-level servers could not support the required Business Intelligence. This led to inconsistent accuracy, ineffective decision-making, lack of flexibility and inefficient use of resources.
For Naprod, global competition and increasing pressure of 21 CFR part 11 compliance and e-signature were also major challenges. It required an automatic scheduling of quality check on samples, inventory planning, tracking throughout laboratory operation process, providing audit trail for all sample data and generating electronic reports for process review and executive dashboards.
After evaluating various enterprise solution vendors, Naprod selected Tectura to install MS Dynamics ERP because the company comprehended the constraints associated in pharmaceutical manufacturing, quality control, traceability, data security and e-signatures, said Manoj Agarwal, IT Manager, Naprod Lifesciences.
The IT solutions provider followed a stringent and proven implementation methodology known as the Tectura Solution Framework (TSF) which aligns with Microsoft Dynamics Sure Step Methodology. The framework includes initial assessment stage, 'Diagnostic' where a pre-analysis of Naprod's business processes was carried out.
In order to maintain the critical timelines, Naprod team worked closely with Tectura using the implementation methodology as its guide, said Vidhu Sekhar, project manager, Tectura India.
Naprod's objective was to quickly enhance productivity, reduce deviations from quality, streamline internal processes and allow better management decisions to achieve the desired business growth. Tectura implemented the MS Dynamics NAV and developed a tailored solution to cater to Naprod's multiple business streams including in-house formulations and API manufacture and loan licensing. The seamless system handled Naprod's manufacturing complexity, quality, inter-company sales, export and import, along with compliance to Indian taxation for its activities. A batch wise manufacturing and pricing modification enabled Naprod to efficiently cost its products. The TSF methodology was used to implement all the modules within budget and on time.
Naprod now runs Microsoft Dynamics NAV solution which is totally integrated across three locations including two offices in Mumbai and one manufacturing plant in Tarapur. Tectura successfully delivered it on time and under a specified budget.
