UK Trade & Investment organises seminar on Healthcare and Medical Technology mission in India

UK Trade & Investment (UKTI), that works with UK-based businesses to ensure their success in international markets and also encourage the best overseas companies to look to the UK as their global partner of choice, held a seminar on 'Healthcare Solutions from the UK' in Mumbai. The objective of the seminar was to have a common platform of investors and companies that seek collaborations. Similar kind of session was held in Delhi and will be held in Chennai too. This initiative is called as UKTI Healthcare and Medical Technology mission to Delhi, Mumbai and Chennai, March 2010. Speaking on the occasion, Dr Nermeen Varawalla, UKTI global value chain specialist said, “Annually, India's private healthcare market is growing at the rate of 12 per cent fuelled by the demand for quality healthcare services by India's urban and affluent population of over 300 million. As the demand extends exciting opportunities for companies able to provide services, products and technologies to meet the market need. Therefore, innovative healthcare and medical technology companies from around the developed world are attracted to the Indian market. Although price sensitive, India's marketplace values best in class treatments, innovation and value added goods and services.” The seminar was attended by several healthcare professionals and investors. Representatives from few manufacturing firms of diagnostics and pharma explained about their firms through presentations at the gathering.
