AIIMS conducts two-day specialised course on cadaver hip arthoplasty

The Department of Orthopaedics at the All India Institute of Medical Science Hospital organised a two-day specialised course on cadaver hip arthoplasty for budding joint replacement surgeons from all across the nation. The two-day course at AIIMS in India provided the budding surgeons an opportunity to perform total hip replacement on cadaver. Eminent faculties both from national and international level guided the candidate with their rich knowledge and experience on the subject. So far, Surgeons usually has to go abroad to take such training which costs them Rs 3 to 4 lakh. AIIMS is making this available in India in keeping the same standard and structure within very nominal fee. Each candidate is provided with a cadaver to perform and hands on training is given for better understanding of the art of joint replacement The AIIMS Cadaver Arthoplasty Course 2010, was successful in terms of reaching out to the very ground level practitioners. There was a huge participation of the orthopaedic doctors from remote and distant places like Bihar, Kerala, and Gujarat etc.
