Trivitron signs pact with Italian co. to manufacture cardiac diagnostic instruments

The Chennai-based medical devices manufacturing company, Trivitron, has inked a joint venture contract with ET Medical Devices of Italy to manufacture and market advanced technology cardiac diagnostic instruments. One of the primary aims of the JV is to enable the hospitals in the country to expand the opportunities of telemedicine and tele cardiology facilities to the rural India. There will be three brands in ECG machines and the initial investment of the company for this project is Rs 10 crore without land & building, said Dr GSK Velu, managing director of Trivitron. He said the instruments in the project include ECG systems, Stress Test ECG, Holter ECG, ABPM recording units, Monitoring systems and Telemedicine IT Solutions. Through this tie-up, ET Medical Devices will manufacture and market cardiac diagnostics instruments by setting up its manufacturing facility at Trivitron’s Medical Technology Park in Chennai. The innovative diagnostic cardiovascular technology will be branded under Cardiette -Cardioline and the JV will be named ET Trivitron Medical Technologies. Attilio Castelli, managing director & CEO, ET Medical Devices, said, “We have been present in Indian market distributing products through BPL since 1997. Over 20,000 units of various products have been sold with major share being from ECG recorders. With India becoming the most favourite destination in the world for healthcare, matching its infrastructure and technology with those in USA, UK & Europe, we have decided to expand our operations by setting up a manufacturing and distribution operation. We have identified Trivitron which has created the first-of-its-kind, world class medical technology park in Chennai, India. This will be the first facility in India for the manufacturing of the most advanced cardiac diagnostic instruments and production of the same is expected to commence by the end of FY 2010-2011.” Commenting on the JV, Dr Velu, said, “We are happy to be associated with ET Medical Devices. Our focus in setting up a medical technology park in India is to manufacture medical equipments in the areas of cardiac care, critical care, imaging, operation theatres, renal care, implantable medical devices and laboratory diagnostics. The objective is to manufacture quality and cost-effective medical technology products suited to the needs of emerging countries. As these products, once manufactured in India, would be at least 30 to 40 per cent cheaper than imported and even hospitals or institutions in rural areas of the country would be able to afford.” ET Medical Devices, Italy is a highly specialised company in the development, production, marketing and world-wide sales of cardiovascular diagnostic equipments.
