CPhI Japan 2010 , one of the largest international conferences on pharmaceutical ingredients and intermediates exhibition aims to bring together renowned experts, scientists, researchers and pharmaceutical industry professionals to discuss the latest information, issues and developments. It attracts a huge number of prospective Japanese business partners to strengthen the business relationships. According to Christopher Eve,Managing Director of UBM Japan Co , a key feature of CPhI Japan is the extensive conference, seminar and workshop programme, many of which are free of charge to attend. Panelists will include experts from the Pharmaceuticals and Medical Devices Agency (PMDA), the Japan Generic Medicines Association and the Japan Pharmaceutical Traders Association. CPhI Japan, ICSE Japan, and P-MEC Japan, three co-located international networking events focusing on the pharmaceutical industry are widely recognized as a must-attend annual event for all professionals related to pharmaceutical industry. In 2009 the three events attracted 445 exhibiting companies from 27 countries & regions and were attended by 13,907 professional visitors from the industry. Spearheaded by CPhI Japan, supported by ICSE Japan, P-MEC Japan and featuring a dedicated BioPharma Pavilion, these keynote events provide wide coverage and great networking opportunities across all of the main pharma services sectors. One highlight at CPhI Japan 2010 is the BioPharma Pavilion, which made its debut during CPhI Japan 2009 as a new concept pavilion showcasing the most cutting-edge products and services to the Japanese market. For 2010, the Pavilion has been extended, reflecting the increasing convergence of pharma and biotech business models in global healthcare, and the growing numbers of bio-pharma partnerships in drug innovation, production and market delivery. The extended BioPharma pavilion within CPhI Japan signals the increasing convergence of pharma and biotech business models in global healthcare - and the growing numbers of bio-pharma partnerships in drug innovation, production and market delivery. The exhibition is a timely link between the biotech innovation that increasingly drives pharma and the proven networking platform of CPhI for ingredients and production interests. BioPharma Pavilion had its debut at last year's CPhI Japan, and a major launch during October 2009 at Europe's CPhI Worldwide in Madrid. Says Eliane Van Doorn, UBM International Media's Group Director for Pharma Ingredients events 'The BioPharma pavilion and keynote and special seminar programmes were important drivers for event quality and success last year. The biopharma story is getting more prominent all the time and with the financial weather now easing the outlook for 2010/2011 is promising----The BioPharma pavilion at CPhI Japan presents an ideal platform, therefore, for the Japanese biopharma industry to meet potential new partners from foreign countries." CPhI Japan, launched in 2002, is the biggest pharmaceutical ingredients exhibition held in Japan. The 2010 event features over 130 seminars and exhibition presentations, including keynote sessions from Dr. Akihisa Chief Scientist of Pfizer Japan Inc., who will focus on 'R&D Strategies for the Next Generation' and Mr. Marc Dunoyer, Vice Chairman of EFPIA Japan and Representative Director & Chairman, GlaxoSmithKline K.K., who will discuss 'Reducing the Drug Lag'. UBM expects to equal or surpass the 2009 event, which saw almost 14,000 visitors and 425 exhibitors spanning 28 countries. Leading exhibitors include BASF Japan, Lonza AG, Dr. Reddy's, Abbott Japan Co., Mitsubishi, Sumitomo, and Misui. Mirroring the significant growth in the demand for contract services in the Japanese market, ICSE Japan has been co-located with CPhI Japan since 2005. In 2010, the ICSE Pavilion provides a unique opportunity to present new products, outsourcing solutions or R&D development to the Japanese pharmaceutical audience. The contract services event ICSE Japan will be staged for the sixth time and 2010 will see the third running of the equipment and technology event P-MEC Japan. P-MEC Japan, with its focus on pharma machinery and equipment will be held for the third time in tandem with CPhI Japan 2010 and is rapidly evolving to embrace every aspect of pharma and biotech equipment and technology, from packaging machinery, through laboratory and analytical techniques, to track and trace technologies. P-MEC Japan started in 2008 to comply with the continuous request of machinery suppliers and buyers. P-MEC , abbreviation of Pharmaceutical Machinery & Equipment Convention, which is the exhibition of machine and equipment for pharmaceutical studies development and manufacturing, was started alongside CPhI Worldwide in 2005 and held in Japan, China, India and South America with CPhI now. Japanese pharmaceutical manufacturers have been facing dynamic changes both inside Japan and outside, such as the implementation of the revised pharmaceutical affairs law, growing competition from foreign companies, increased merger and acquisition activity, the rise in demand for generic drugs and the growth in bio pharma development.
