AIOCD Ltd to launch its own 100 generics by July end, floats Java division to market

A whole basket of more than 100 generic brands, comprising of some key therapeutic segments owned by the All Indian Origin Chemists and Distributors Ltd (AIOCD Ltd), the distribution and retail company floated by All India Organisation of Chemists and Druggists (AIOCD), are expected to hit the domestic pharma market by end of July, 2010. The company has launched a new division, the Java, to market the AIO range of private label generic products manufactured through third party outsourcing throughout the country starting with distribution in 15 states in the initial stage. It has already launched 54 products in Mumbai as first phase of operation and is planning to come out with second set of another 50 products by the end of this month in New Delhi, said J S Shinde, chairman, AIOCD Ltd. The products largely belong to therapeutic segments of antibiotics, gastroenteritis, analgesics and multivitamins. The members of the AIOCD Ltd and the trade organisation will give prominence to the products of the company to make the brands success, informs sources from AIOCD Ltd. The company, at present, has 13,700 stake holders while the strength of the trade organisation stands at more than 5.5 lakh throughout the country. “We are expecting around Rs 50 crore turnover from the Java division by March 31, 2011. The turnover is envisaged to grow to Rs 120 crore in next financial year,” said Shinde. The products are mostly manufactured in the Northern states, in tie-up with third party manufacturers, and the company has established its central warehouse in Ambala, Haryana to store the products. The Java division is designed to build business for its members simultaneously by addressing different needs of each retailers at the same time. The products under the division are thoroughly scrutinized for its quality, packaging and pricing, he added. Stored in the warehouse at Ambala, the products would be distributed to the consignee agents throughout the 15 states, who then would hand over them to the super stockists, distributors, stockists to bring it finally to the retailers, chemists and hospitals. The entire transportation would be tracked through the Electronic Data Entry (EDE) system designed by AIOCD Pharmassoftech Awacs, an electronic infrastructure creation firm connected to the AIOCD Ltd. The technology is expected to help the company to monitor and control loss of revenue through mismanaging the stocks on transportation.
