As a first step in the process of its expansion at the Fortis Hospitals, Bangalore at its Cunningham Road facility a new generation Cardiac Catheterisation Laboratory has been installed. This is the second cath lab at this facility and the third for Fortis in Bangalore. This advanced cardiac cath lab with upgraded Electro Physiology (EP) Systems will provide cardiologists even more accuracy in performing both diagnostic and therapeutic cardiac interventions.
This cath lab allows the treating physicians for the first time to visualize vessels and diseases from all sides with unprecedented precision. The lab was inaugurated by Shankar Bidri, Commissioner of Police, Bangalore.
The new generation cath lab uses a premium 3D flat panel imaging technology which provides enhanced clarity to the cardiologists while performing the procedure “This technology will enable us provide faster diagnosis and treatment and thus reduce the procedure time for our patients. We can provide the entire spectrum of cardiac and non cardiac interventions in this lab” said Dr Gopi, consultant interventional cardiologist, Fortis Hospitals.

Particularly in long duration procedures like Angioplasties, this lab will help us reduce procedure time and also utilization of radioactive dye for patients”
