IDMA – APA Pharmaceutical Analysts' Convention 2010 to be held in Mumbai on Oct 14, 15

The Indian Drug Manufacturers' Association (IDMA) and the Association of Pharmaceutical Analysts (APA) will jointly organise the 13th IDMA - APA Pharmaceutical Analysts' Convention (PAC) 2010 on October 14 & 15, 2010 at Mumbai.

The theme of this year’s convention has been finalised as ‘Celebrating the Indian Pharmacopoeia – Taking Wings’, highlighting the significance of the Indian Pharmacopoeia Commission (IPC) and its efforts to bring in standards for safety and efficacy in the segment, according to IDMA sources.

Top official from the Department of Pharmaceuticals, Ministry of Chemicals and Petrochemicals and the Drug Controller General of India are expected to attend the inaugural function. Life time achievement award will be presented  to Dr Nitya Ananad, chairman with the Scientific Body of the IPC.

The convention would be the perfect meeting place for the pharma, biopharma industries, researchers, academicians, business consultants and outsourcing firms to network with the eminent technical personnel from the domestic industry and to explore new products, technology and solutions and business development opportunities, announced IDMA officials.

Topics like how to deal with 483's, US FDA audits in India, attracting and retaining talent, road map for IP, setting specifications for Pharmacopoeial and non-pharmacopoeial products, navigating pharmaceutical patents at the Indian Patent Office, driving pharmaceutical R&D efficiency through IT automation and regulatory compliance, Indian Pharmacopoeia as a tool to improve a company's profitability are set to discuss in the convention.

Other topics scheduled for discussion includes stability areas – validation and monitoring for safety and compliance, quality by package design and innovations – patient safety approach, outsourcing validation, retest and expiry of APIs against shelf life of finished products, development of analytical procedures for clinical trial projects and the international regulatory submission format for clinical trials in India.
IDMA-APA have successfully organised 12 Pharmaceutical Analysts' Convention (PAC),  since the year 1997.
