AyurVAID Hospitals, India’s largest chain of in-patient Ayurveda hospitals has successfully treated a rare physical disorder, which is medically referred to as ‘Kikuchi – Fujimoto Disease (KFD) or Histiocytic Necrotizing Lymphadenitis.
According to Rajiv Vasudevan, managing director, AyurVAID Hospitals, the rare disease known to have a worldwide distribution with higher prevalence among Japanese and other Asiatic individuals, has found to affect young women about three times more often than men.
The signs and symptoms of Kikuchi's disease are fever, lymph-adenopathy, skin rashes and headache. Some patients may also experience distressing and debilitating symptoms which can last for months. In allopathic management, the ailment has no specific cure and can be treated only symptomatically.
In the specific case the patient, Sushmita had huge red spots and rashes all over her body which gave her immense pain, severe irritation and swelling. She was suffering from confirmed case of KPD. Despite trying various allopathy drugs and consulting different doctors, her condition would just not improve. Finally, the patient came to AyurVAID Hospitals, Domlur, Bangalore centre and was completely cured of the ailment in two weeks’ time.
The Evidence based diagnosis using AyurVAID protocol showed that the condition of the patient was reported to be ‘Kushta Roga- Visarpa-pitta Kotha’ in Ayurveda.
The hospital adopted a medical management line for the Pitta correction with a Systemic approach along with Classical Ayurveda internal medication which helped her to stop the steroids. The outcome of the treatment indicated a marked improvement in rashes and itching and in 3 days these symptoms disappeared. The Lymph nodes enlargement disappeared and the pain steadily decreased. The overall well being significantly improved within a week which included sleep, digestion, energy and stress level, he said.
