As part of a strategic 7-year deal with Siemens Healthcare Diagnostics, Thyrocare Technologies Ltd. will soon boast of a state-of-the-art “lab automation system” from Siemens that will help reduce the current turnaround time for testing samples by 3 hours. The deal was signed recently at Navi Mumbai, and the new technology is likely to be operational from the 1st May 2011.
Thyrocare Technologies has been a pioneer of enterprising and innovative technology in the field of Indian diagnostics and boasts of a network of more than 20,000 service centres and franchises across the country. At the time when most diagnostic giants are busy taking over smaller, local laboratories or setting up their own labs to expand their network, Thyrocare has been surging ahead with its unique “single laboratory ” approach with a capacity of 5,00,000 investigations per day. Thus, in an industry where volumes were never dreamt of, Thyrocare introduced a standardized and organized way of functioning for the diagnostics industry to follow by simply applying intelligent logistics. Now, with the “lab automation” system from Siemens, the company yet again introduces a breakthrough technology that will further strengthen the centralized testing procedure while reducing the time. The technology is expected to be instrumental in replacing the manual handling of the samples to an automated, accurate and faster process thereby eliminating errors and reducing the turnaround time for processing the large volumes of samples by up to 3 hours. The set up is going to be a tailor-made “track system” that will handle, label, barcode and co- ordinate the samples, efficiently sending them for respective investigations and effectively handle them from the time they arrive at the laboratory till the investigations are completed.
Speaking on the development, Dr. A. Velumani, founder & CEO of Thyrocare Technologies Ltd said, “We have always believed that by having centralized operations, the same standards of quality control and accuracy in reporting can be maintained using technology like barcoding and bidirectional interfacing to ensure error-free and stress-free reporting and operations. With the “lab automation” technology from Siemens, our unique combination of Quality, Cost, Speed, Reach and Systems is now enriched and as a company with started in 1995 among 3000 competitors, today surges ahead as a leader and an innovator, making new benchmarks for the rest to follow. We appreciate and value our association with Siemens and hope this to be a start of a mutually rewarding partnership for the years to come.”
Being an ISO 9001-2000 certified company with accreditation from National Accreditation Board for Testing and Calibration Laboratories and from a global accrediting organization like the College of American Pathologists, The company is all set to take over the billion plus population for the Indian diagnostic markets.
