Our Bureau, MumbaiThursday, March 24, 2011, 08:00 Hrs  [IST]

Life sciences is one of the most dynamic and  fastest moving global industry sectors. As the rapidly-maturing and consolidating life sciences industry is becoming increasingly complex and  risky,   innovative solutions to meet the  upcoming  challenges have become the need of the hour.

Hence life sciences firms are moving beyond the  traditional industry boundaries to create new healthcare solutions for patients and providers. By combining core technologies  in innovative ways, life sciences firms are creating new technology platforms and products that  improve  safety, effectiveness, convenience and value. These convergent solutions are also providing life sciences companies with new avenues for innovation, growth and differentiation.

Convergence is occurring at all stages of the value chain and through various approaches. Convergence is now increasingly occurring at earlier stages of research and development and companies in all sectors are forming alliances and co-creating technologies and products from the earliest phases of R&D through clinical validation, manufacturing and product commercialisation.

The convergence within the life sciences sector presents a unique opportunity to all  players involved to develop solutions that will have a long lasting impact on patient care, which in turn will provide growth in the long run. However, the key to this will be innovation. And success in innovation   depends on the level and intensity of participation from all the sectors of the life sciences industry.

In this context INTERPHEX 2011,  world's leading forum for life sciences  manufacturing being  held at New York's Jacob K. Javits Convention Center from  March 29 to 31, that covers a wide spectrum of drug development to patient care , is  of special significance."Innovation, Intelligence and Passion" are the official watchwords  and the words its organizers, Reed Exhibitions,  have taken to heart in developing this year's event.

This  unique event that will feature an exhibition and conference providing education related to medicines and pharmaceuticals to the participants  will provide tremendous opportunities for the participants to meet prospective buyers face to face. Immense exposure at the world stage is also a major attraction for the traders involved in the event.

It will be  introducing  influential leaders in life sciences through a unique combination of conference, exhibition, workshops, partnering opportunities and networking events. Some reputed speakers like Mark Albano from Honeywell Process Solutions will be presiding over the conference.

The event will showcase newest products and equipment from the concerned industry. The visitors at the show will be able to witness demonstrations, seek expert advice and network with the suppliers and manufacturers of the pharmaceutical and biopharmaceutical industries. The event will not only provide the technology solutions for all areas of drug manufacturing but will also provide comprehensive educational opportunities to reflect the trends and challenges facing pharmaceutical and biopharmaceutical professionals today.

Thousands of pharmaceutical and biotechnology industry professionals gather annually at INTERPHEX to meet one-on-one with technical experts, see the newest products/equipment, view live demonstrations, network, get expert advice to specific challenges, find resources, source new products, learn about emerging or changing trends and stay on top of every issue surrounding life sciences manufacturing. At INTERPHEX, one can find technology solutions and education for every aspect of drug manufacturing from process development through delivery to market.

The exhibitor's profile at this year's event include testing instruments, microscopes, weighing machines, active pharma ingredients, suppliers of turnkey pharma plants, machinery & equipment for treatment of pharma raw materials, analytical instruments & lab reagents, tableting & capsulation unit, packaging materials, glassware and pharma publications.

The visitor's profile include pharma machinery suppliers & distributors, pharma consultants, CEOs & top executives, purchase executives, manufacturing engineers of pharmaceutical companies, R&D professionals, scientists and government experts.

More than 650 suppliers (including more than 100 new exhibitors) and 1,000 product lines will fill the show floor's four exhibit zones: Facilities, Sourcing & Services, Automation: Systems & Controls and Manufacturing & Packaging. Adding to the activity will be more than 30 technical sessions, roundtables, live in-depth interviews, a new meeting service and a series of special events.

This year marks ISPE's 14th year as the major sponsor of INTERPHEX, and both organizations will join with Pharmaceutical Processing magazine to showcase category winners in the seventh annual Facility of the Year Award (FOYA) program, in a special winners' center in the Facilities Zone.

This is the only joint appearance the winners will make apart from the ISPE Annual Meeting in November 2011, when one category winner will be named Overall Winner. Integrated Project Services (IPS), which provides technical consulting, engineering, construction and commissioning and qualification services, will also host two technology tours focusing on single-use (SU) bioprocessing and advanced aseptic processing technologies.

The tours will be held on March 30, with participating exhibitor subject matter experts outlining available technologies and unique equipment configurations. There will also be an aseptic and SU reception.

There will also  will be The Signature Series, a two-day line-up of programs and interviews with global experts, led by Michelle Hoffman, Editorial Director of Pharmaceutical Technology Magazine. And adding to the knowledge base will be luncheon roundtables presented by BioProcess International, including  panel discussions.
