The department of pharmaceutical chemistry, Sri. Adichunchanagari College of Pharmacy of Karnataka will organise a staff development programme (SDP) on “Challenges and New Techniques Involved in Drug Discovery” sponsored by All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) from April 25 to May 7, 2011 for the professional pharmacy experts.
The programme aims to provide an opportunity for the pharmacy professionals to improve their skills in drug research and significant advancement in the development of new molecules and the ability to predict new chemical compounds in silico and CADD methods.
The programme will focus on the fundamental applications of the drug discovery, drug discovery techniques, current trends in drug development, drug designing and drug discovery, transformation of the data into information and information into knowledge (QSAR study), spectroscopy and chromatography techniques, rational drug design and drug modelling, pro-drug concept and other related areas.
Sri Padmabhushan Dr Balgangadharanatha Mahaswamiji, president, Sri. Adichunchanagari Shikshana Trust, Sri Nirmalanandanatha Swamiji, secretary, Sri Adichunchanagari Shikshana Trust, Dr B Ramesh, principal and director of the seminar, Sri Adichunchanagari College of Pharmacy, Dr Jaishree V, professor, co-ordinator and head of the department of pharmaceutical chemistry, organising committee members, Dr N K Sathish, professor, Irfan Ali M, assistant professor will be the part of this programme.
Pharmacy experts will contribute the importance of silico and CADD methods in the field of drug discovery and also in research techniques.
Sri Adichunchanagari College of Pharmacy successfully maintains the level of education and research to the students through curricular and co-curricular activities in pharmaceutical sciences. It also attached with Adichunchanagari Institute of Medical Sciences (AIMS) and hospital where pharmacy students are availing their clinical practice.
