Madhya Pradesh to play big role in India pharma growth story

The Indian pharmaceutical market is expected to undergo a major transformation and is likely to rise from the present size of Rs.100,000 crore ($21 billion) to Rs.225,000 crore ($50 billion) by 2020, according to N R Munjal, president of IDMA. Madhya Pradesh, second largest state in India , led by Indore ,is poised to play a big role in this growth story, he added.
Munjal further informed that Madhya Pradesh is fast catching up with neighbouring states like Maharashtra and Gujarat due to presence of pharmaceutical manufacturers such as IPCA Laboratories, Lupin, Cipla, Ranbaxy, Pentagon, ACG etc. and many others who were on verge of joining the growing list of Indore’s top 100 pharma companies making a beeline for Indore, with a boost provided by Indore SEZ. “We would be happy to have a state board in Indore so that we can work closely with the small and medium companies for their well deserved growth”, he said.
The recently held PharmaTech Expo 2011 in Indore was a successful event, which brought all buyers and suppliers on a single platform. It was highly productive & latest international products were shown by the exhibitors.
The expo was jointly organised by Pharma Technology Index.com Pvt. Ltd. (a KNS group of company), Indian Drug Manufacturers’ Association (IDMA), and Indore Infoline Pvt. Ltd and In association with Pharmexcil and BDMA.
PharmaTech Expo was inaugurated by Kailash Vijayvargiy, State Industry Minister of Madhya Pradesh in presence of Chief guest Ashish Trivedi from FDA. N R Munjal, president - IDMA, vice chairman - Pharmexcil, vice-chairman and managing director, Ind-Swift Laboratories Ltd., Daara B Patel, secretary –general, IDMA, Soni from MPPMO also were present with their team and other dignitaries.
The “PharmaTech Expo 2011” was organised on 48 acres of land & 70,000 sq. ft. floor area with Wi-Fi enabled pavilions & A C Domes. The expo had high-tech security with 24 hours CCTV surveillance of entire expo. The event was supported by MPPMO, Pithampur Audhyogik Sangathan, Govindpura Industries Association, Association of Industries Madhya Pradesh and MPSIDC.
The event was sponsored by Cemach, ACG Worldwide, Choksi Labs and Spectra Soft. More than 150 exhibitor were present in the exhibition from all over the country. Some of the international companies also participated from Korea, Singapore & Belgium. All companies exhibited their latest technologies and products. PTI.com has put special efforts to make the Exhibition a successful event for Exhibitors as well as Visitors. The exhibitors in the expo mainly consisted of processing plant & machinery, packaging materials & machinery, lab equipments & lab wares, biotechnology & CROs, R&D and Quality Control etc. Participants were also from healthcare products, environment & pollution control as well as trade, associations & promotion bodies.
The expo was a major, specialised event of pharmaceutical industry where exhibitors showcased their latest advancements, achievements, modern technologies and newest trends within the industry in manufacturing, packaging, R&D etc. The expo had displayed latest products, machinery, equipment for business generation & up gradation. It had projected quality controls and government regulations & controls. It also projected the brand value of organisations, joint venture firm, partnership firm, project collaborations, transfer of technology, investments and R&D.
A full day seminar was organised on April 23 on “Pharmaceutical stability Study” and “Pharmaceutical innovation and Technology” which was sponsored by Thermolab Scientific Equipment Pvt. Ltd. The seminar was inaugurated by Dr Saranjit Singh, Professor and Head, Department of Pharmaceutical Analysis and Dean, NIPER. The Chief Guest was Omprakash Sadhwani, Jt Commissioner (Law), FDA Maharashtra and Sandeep Mhatre, group managing director of Thermolab Scientific equipments. Many speakers had also made their presentation on pharmaceutical stability and pharmaceutical innovations.
Daara B. Patel, secretary general, IDMA in his opening remarks at the seminar said that IDMA was celebrating Golden Jubilee Year with yearlong activities such as seminar, workshops, training sessions etc. He said that IDMA was always eager to educate and enhance technical skills & knowledge of the pharma technical professionals.
