Bausch & Lomb to launch its ophthalmic range of products in India soon

Bausch & Lomb is soon planning to enter into the Indian pharma market with the launch of its ophthalmic range of products in the country. It is believed that the company will mark its presence in India by introducing 10 to 12 eye care pharmaceutical products in the metro cities across the country by end of July.

According to a spokesperson from the company, they are at present  working on completing the formalities for the launch of their eye care pharmaceutical products which will be a mix of global portfolio they have. “Our aim is to capture a good share of the Indian market with our products over the period of time. However right now our focus is to establish and expand it to its full potential,” he added.

According to a reliable source closely associated with the company, initially the company will be outsourcing the products from Bangalore based Micro Labs followed by importing products manufactured by the company that are popular in the world.

In the pharmaceutical section the company has a strong product profile  which is well known for treating wide range of eye conditions including glaucoma, eye allergies, conjunctivitis, dry eye and retinal diseases. They also offer proprietary and generic medicines available by prescription, over-the-counter eye drops and other medications.

As of now Bausch and Lomb India is primarily into manufacturing and selling vision care and eye-wear products and the pharmaceuticals part of products are not launched in India as yet. With this launch Bausch & Lomb will be entering the niche eye care pharmaceutical market in India. The company already have a substantial presence in the pharma sector with a strong portfolio. In fact, a third of its global revenue is generated from this sector.
