Acharya & B M Reddy College of Pharmacy to organise 13-day SDP in Bangalore from July 18

Acharya & B M Reddy College of Pharmacy, Bangalore in association with the Indian Pharmaceutical Association (IPA) is organising the 13-day Staff Development Programme (SDP) from July 18-30, 2011in Bangalore. The event will be sponsored by All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE).

Staff Development Programme (SDP) is intended to provide opportunities through AICTE approved staff colleges/institutions for induction training to teachers employed in AICTE approved technical institutions to facilitate upgradation of knowledge and skill.

Dr Divakar Goli, principal and convener, Acharya & B M Reddy College of Pharmacy, Prof. Shivanand K Mutta and Dr Amit Kumar Das, co-ordinator, Dr Kalyani Divakar, president, IPA-Peenya branch, Prof. Ambujakshi HR, Prof. Anup Kumar Roy, Prof. A Cendil Kumar, Prof. Ravi Sharma, Manjunath P M are some of the eminent members to be present at the programme to deliver importance of conducting SDP.

The speakers will discuss some of the important topics on pharmaceutical industry environment, formulation and development, intellectual property, pharmacokinetics, stages of clinical development, regulatory affairs, role of project management, pharmacogenomics, research design, drug discovery, preclinical research, quality assurance, process validation.

Sources closely associated with the programme said, “Eminent resource persons from academia and pharmaceutical industry will provide in depth information through lectures and discussions on specialized topics. As this programme is based on the current status of Research and Development (R&D) in the pharmaceutical industry for teachers in pharmacy education.”

The programme is focussed on how to develop an understanding of the drug development process, to identify the key stages of drug development, to recognize the integral and multi-functional nature of the process, to understand the critical role of each scientific and business discipline, to appreciate the impact of regulatory, compliance and environmental demands, to see the need for a clear and detail strategy at all stages and to gain the knowledge to predict some pitfalls and roadblocks.
