Navi Mumbai based Maestros Mediline Systems, a medical equipment and devices, tele-medicine, and hospital infrastructure management solutions company, will be commercially selling its tele-medicine products in India by 2012.
Though the company is yet to launch the product commercially, it has been sensitising about the products in the market for the last six months. According to Dr K K Menon, founder chairman and managing director, “Tele-medicine is a fairly new concept for the Indian market as very few are aware of the same. Our company has always believed in making innovative healthcare accessible to all. Right now our main aim is to sensitise about this to as many people as possible so that they know about it and are able to access it.”
Under the aegis of tele-medicine, the company has developed three applications targeting individual patients, ambulance and ambulance to hospital set up and finally rural to urban area. One of the key innovations of the company is the mobile-ECG, whereby a patient could immediately send his ECG through his mobile phone to his doctor’s mobile phone.
Dr Menon informed that the company has already tied-up with leading service providers like Vodafone and research in motion makers of Blackberry for this service.
Apart from this, the tele-medicine has instant five health parameter measurement device and bluetooth enabled vital parameter screening tool. The five health parameter measurement that can be done through tele-medicine are blood pressure check up, check up of oxygen content and blood sugar, ECG & respiration check up and temperature check up.
Sources from the company informed that price range of the products vary between Rs.48,000 to Rs.2 lakh. Dr Menon informed. “Our main aim is to provide the latest available technology to our country at a vary affordable rate. Today, there is no need for India to be dependent on other countries or foreign companies to provide us with the latest technology as we have the potential to develop quality products within the country as per our requirements,” he said.
The company is actively working with World Bank assisted state healthcare projects of Maharastra, Gujarat, Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Orissa and Kerala. It is among the few medical device companies from India which have taken initiative to develop revolutionary and affordable products within the country.
