Caliper Life Sciences, Inc. announced a collaboration with the Centre for genome analysis at Yale University. As part of this agreement, Yale is working with Caliper to implement automated protocols for exome capture and library preparation workflows.

“Yale has purchased Caliper’s Sciclone NGS Workstation and LabChip GXI to improve key bottlenecks in the Illumina HiSeq2000 NGS sample preparation process,” said Shrikant Mane, PhD, director Yale Centre for Genome Analysis. “We chose these systems because of their flexibility, which will enable us to automate protocols for the Pacific Biosciences sequencing workflow in the future, and because of the hands-on support Caliper provides in customizing their systems to automate the numerous sequencing workflows utilized at our centre.”

“Caliper is excited to partner with the Yale Centre for Genome Analysis as we enhance our NGS sample preparation suite to accelerate sample preparation for each of the leading sequencing instrumentation and reagent platforms,” said Kevin Hrusovsky, president and CEO of Caliper Life Sciences. “Our team is committed to providing the highest level of support and resource to enable leading NGS institutions to conduct fundamental research that will enable the delivery of medicine in a more personalized manner.”

Other leading sequencing companies/centres that have purchased additional NGS products from Caliper in recent months include Johns Hopkins University, Sequenom, University of Maryland, ELIM Biopharm, Complete Genomics, University of Queensland, UMC Groningen, Erasmus Rotterdam, The Genome Analysis Centre, Edge BioSystems, Children’s Mercy Hospital of Kansas City, Vanderbilt University, HudsonAlpha Institute, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, University of Connecticut Health Centre, and numerous other research facilities.

The Yale Centre for Genome Analysis is a full service facility dedicated to providing RNA expression profiling, DNA genotyping, and high-throughput sequencing using state of the art technologies. The resource is open to both Yale and other non-profit organizations.

Caliper is a premier provider of cutting-edge technologies enabling researchers in the life sciences industry to create life-saving and enhancing medicines and diagnostic tests more quickly and efficiently.
