Pfizer net moves up by 11% in Q2

Pfizer, a leading MNC in India, has posted satisfactory performance during the second quarter ended September 2011. Its net profit increased by 10.6 per cent to Rs. 46.99 crore from Rs. 42.48 crore and its net sales moved up by 20.5 per cent to Rs. 271.82 crore from Rs. 225.61 crore in the corresponding period of last year. The earning per share worked out to Rs. 15.75 as against Rs. 14.56 in the last period.
For the first half ended September 2011, Pfizer's net sales increased by 17.3 per cent to Rs. 513.59 crore from Rs. 437.94 crore. Its net profit surged by 14.3 per cent to Rs. 88.23 crore from Rs. 77.17 crore. Its pharmaceutical sales increased by 13.8 per cent to Rs. 449.65 crore and that of animal health division moved up by 13.3 per cent to Rs. 64.04 crore from Rs. 56.51 crore in the similar half of last year.
The figures are not strictly comparable as the company changed its accounting period December-November to April-March with effect from December 1, 2009. The current quarter is from July 1, 2011 to September 30, 2011, while the previous quarter was from June 1, 2010 to August 31, 2010.
