Natco Pharma records single digit growth in net profit

Natco Pharma, a Rs.450 plus pharma major from Hyderabad, has achieved net profit growth of 7.6 per cent to Rs.15.94 core during the second quarter ended September 2011 from Rs.14.82 crore in the similar period of last year. Its sales improved only by 3.9 per cent to Rs.124.84 crore from Rs.120.05 crore. Its EBDITA moved up by 14.9 per cent to Rs.31.63 crore from Rs.27.53 crore in the last period. Earnings per share improved marginally to Rs.5.66 from Rs.5.26 in the last period.
The sales of bulk chemicals registered strong growth of 44.7 per cent to Rs.41.14 crore from Rs.28.43 crore and formulations sales improved by 8.1 per cent to Rs.68.28 crore from Rs.63.16 crore. However, its sales of of job work declined slightly to Rs.2.33 crore from Rs.2.46 crore.
For the first half ended September 2011, Natco's sales improved only by 2 per cent to Rs.240.83 crore from Rs.236.12 crore and its net profit went up by 18 per cent to Rs.29.97 crore from Rs.28.15 crore. Its EBDITA increased by 21.2 per cent to Rs.58.89 crore from Rs.48.61 crore.
