Hinduja Hospital, established in 1951 and a leading tertiary care hospital in India, has won ‘Best Multi Specialty Hospital of The year – Metro’ at the CNBC TV18 India Healthcare Awards 2011. At a glittering ceremony held in Delhi, chief guest Sudip Bandyopadhyay, Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare presented the award. Usha Raheja, executive trustee for Rural Health & Philanthropy, Vinoo Hinduja, executive trustee and Pramod Lele, CEO received the award on behalf of the Hospital along with senior management and doctors.
The ICICI Lombard & CNBC TV18 India Healthcare Awards, in its second year, had more than 4,000 hospitals and healthcare providers participating. The winners were selected after a rigorous process involving all stakeholders – industry experts, general physicians, hospital administrators and patients. Collectively, the consumer ratings and doctors’ ratings on facility assessment data were shared with the jury to arrive at the final winners. This multi stage research process was conducted by IMRB, India’s leading research agency. Last year, the same award was conferred to AIIMS.
The esteemed jury that helped select India’s finest healthcare providers comprised Kewal Handa managing director - Pfizer Limited, D G Shah - Secretary General, Indian Pharmaceutical Alliance & Co-Chairman, National Pharmaceuticals Committee, FICCI, Dr. S K Sarin -Director - Indian Medical Council, Vaidheesh A- Managing Director Johnson & Johnson Medical India and Dr. Ramakant Panda –Vice Chairman and Managing Director of Asian Heart Hospital.
It was the founder, P D Hinduja’s vision to build a world-class, affordable hospital where fellow Indians can get treatment at par with international standards. Late Smt Lalita G Hinduja, his eldest daughter-in-law, spent 30 years nurturing this vision. She created a culture of compassion and care amongst the employees, weaving them into a family. Her daughter Usha Raheja said, “It is the parivaar values inculcated at the Hospital which make people go beyond the call of duty to deliver affordable personalized care.”
Vinoo Hinduja, spoke about the unique approach the Hospital has pursued for which direction has been given by her father Sri. S P Hinduja, chairman, Hinduja Group. She emphasized that Hinduja Hospital is quality healthcare for all: “We continue to achieve this through adaptation of new technology, accreditation and upgradation of employee skills, hence creating an experience not just a service. This award is another stepping stone in our relentless pursuit of excellence.”
Pramod Lele, CEO, Hinduja Hospital said, “At Hinduja Hospital, this is double celebration. This December, we are in the midst of our diamond jubilee celebrations. This award will be a great motivation for the 2,000 strong workforce at Hinduja Hospital.” He attributed the achievement to the strong sense of purpose laid by the founder of the Hospital, Sri Parmanand Hinduja, to serve the community.
The Hinduja Hospital has led with state of the art technology and quality systems. From being the first hospital in South Asia to install gamma knife; first hospital to have got a College of American Pathologists (CAP) accreditation for it’s laboratory; ISO 27001 certification for the hospital’s IT division and a ISO 9002 certification for Quality Management System, Hinduja Hospital has many firsts to its credit.
