Pfizer net profit up by 11% in Q3 to Rs.48 cr

Pfizer, a leading MNC in India, has posted net profit growth of 10.8 per cent during the third quarter ended December 2011 to Rs.48.28 crore as against Rs.43.58 crore in the corresponding period of last year. EBDITA improved by 8.7 per cent to Rs.74.79 crore from Rs.68.65 crore. The earnings per share worked out to Rs.16.18 as compared to Rs.14.60 in the last period. The current quarter is from October 1, 2011 to December 31, 2011, while the previous quarter was from September 1, 2010 to November 30, 2010. Hence the figures are not strictly comparable.

Its net sales increased by 6.8 per cent to Rs.251.88 crore from Rs.235.84 crore. The pharmaceutical sales reached at Rs.217.84 crore during the quarter under review from Rs.205.61 crore, registering a growth of 6 per cent. The sales of Animal Health division moved up to Rs.34.04 crore from Rs.30.23 crore and that from services declined to Rs.18.31 crore from Rs.24.91 crore in the last quarter.

For the nine months ended December 2011, Pfizer's sales increased by 13.6 per cent to Rs.765.57 crore from Rs.673.78 crore in the similar period of last year. Its net profit increased by 13.1 per cent to Rs.136.51 crore from Rs.120.75 crore and its EBDITA moved up by 9.3 per cent to Rs.212.56 crore from Rs.194.57 crore. Its pharmaceutical sales went up to Rs.667.49 crore from Rs.600.75 crore and that of Animal Health moved up to Rs.98.08 crore from Rs.86.74 crore.
