DKSH forays into Indian subcontinent with a sales office in Sri Lanka

DKSH’s Business Unit Performance Materials, a leading specialty chemicals and food ingredients distributor, opened its first sales office in Sri Lanka recently. This opening is another milestone in expanding into the Indian subcontinent and enables the Swiss-headquartered Market Expansion Services specialist to extend its service portfolio to Sri Lanka. Through this new sales channel, DKSH offers its existing and new clients a more extensive market coverage in Asia.

“India is a fast growing market within DKSH’s chemical distribution activities, and we are committed to further strengthening our comprehensive network in this important region. With the geographical expansion to Sri Lanka, we accomplished the next step in our goal of becoming the number one specialty chemical distributor in Asia,” says Mario Preissler, global head business unit performance materials.

DKSH’s chemical distribution business has grown significantly over the past years, both in terms of delivering strong sales results and from the perspective of delivering new and improved services. In order to further strengthen its Indian operations and to provide its customers added value in stock keeping and on-time delivery, DKSH had recently opened a new distribution centre in Delhi catering to customers in and around North India, and complementing a second distribution centre in Mumbai.

Moreover, DKSH is investing in a new confectionery and bakery innovation centre in Mumbai to deepen the company’s application expertise, develop cutting-edge business ideas, and formulate concepts that create opportunities for its clients and customers. The state-of-the-art facility is planned to be opened by the end of the first quarter of 2012. This new centre will be the second research facility for DKSH Performance Material in Mumbai.
