The chairman of HealthCare Global Enterprises Ltd, the specialist in cancer care, Dr B S Ajaikumar, won the Ernst and Young Start – Up Category – Entrepreneur Of The Year award. The awards were presented at Mumbai by the Union minister for commerce and industries, Anand Sharma.
After receiving the award, Dr B S Ajaikumar, said that in a business driven world managing a hospital is a challenge. It was a task not just to raise the required funds to creation of a viable business model but convince investors and oncologists on the need for comprehensive cancer care centres which is managed by the cancer specialists.
“Now we have created an monthly EMI facility for the cancer patients, without any interest and this has benefited many patients and families, who were not affordable to undergo the treatment. Hitherto , it was felt doctors don’t make good entrepreneurs. This award has proved that if one understands patients it was possible to build a sustainable healthcare models through a network across the country,” he added.
