CESEP, a South African company dealing in real estate, recently expressed its intention to collaborate with the Indian healthcare sector to initiate the process of setting up hospitals in undeveloped areas of South Africa (SA). By seeking active collaboration with the Indian counterparts the company intends to focus on addressing the local healthcare issues of the people of SA along with providing value added services to them.

The company is already in talks with some of the top healthcare companies from India who have shown active interest in setting up their base in SA. Dr Shela Mogaila Mokgabudi from CESEP informed that, among the many interested parties, two prominent names from the healthcare sector who showed interest in coming to SA are Apollo Group of Hospitals and Dr M A Patankar from A To Z Diagnostics Centre.

Shela said, “We want the Indian healthcare companies to come forward and partner with us in this project so that we can work together for the development of underdeveloped areas in the country. It must be understood that the area that we are talking about is highly undeveloped mining land with minimal measures to address the healthcare needs of the people. Through this collaboration we want to ensure that all the healthcare needs of the people which till now have been ignored due to lack of proper healthcare facilities are addressed properly hear after.”

The large acres of land that is proposed to be given on lease is basically a mining predominant area wherein there is very low level of development market at present. CESEP wants the Indian based hospitals to set up their facility at this area so that it will lead to the development of the land as well help the companies to provide high quality services to the patients addressing their healthcare needs.

The company informed that they will be providing their land on lease to the interested parties at a very affordable rate with other benefits. It is understood that apart from land provision the company is also planning to provide infrastructural facility to companies interested in setting up their plant in South Africa.

She pointed out that such collaboration is essential to not only build better understanding between the two countries, but also to provide ideal opportunity to the Indian companies to establish strong business presence in SA, especially since there is a great demand for quality healthcare services.

This initiative was informed by CESEP during the third edition of the annual South Africa-India, Investment and Trade Initiative (ITI) that was recently concluded in Mumbai. CESEP had been participating this event as delegate with a view to promote trade and investment opportunities in SA.
