API China, Interphex and PharmChina take off with traditional fanfare, focus on JV and collaborations

The trio-event of API Spring 2012, Interphex China and PharmChina has begun  with traditional fanfare at Hefei in China.  The event is a platform for global pharma majors to look for joint venture opportunities in the area of bulk drugs, equipment and fixed dose formulations.

The trio event, which was inaugurated here today by senior officials of the Hefei People’s Government, has created an impression of liaison and partnerships for the future of businesses.

The three-day exposition will now offer the international phamra majors and companies from China to gauge the growth potential of the industry.  The event, being held between April 25 and 27, 2012  at the Hefei Bihu International Exhibition Centre, is spread across 10 halls and has over 1000 companies vying for a prospect. There are not just bulk drug manufacturers and suppliers, but additive makers along with pharma packaging material and machinery manufacturers.

According to the officials, China has the low cost labour and state-of-the art-plants which will need to be highlighted. The country’s solid pharmaceutical manufacturing prowess together with the machinery design and production development  can be capitalized by the developed world to produce affordable drugs under supervision by the sourcing company.

China and India are the pharma giants of the East and we need to ensure that our country can garner a fair share of the global pharma market for manufacture, said sources from Beijing Hope International Pharmaceutical.

Today China is the largest active pharmaceutical ingredient and excipient producer in the world. The country is noted for its cost effective manufacture  of vitamins, anti infectives, antibiotics range which is in growing demand across markets. Therefore every segment of the pharma industry can take the opportunity at the 68th edition of API China and Interphex exhibits the entire spectrum of APIs, testing devices and filling equipment for production and logistics.

API exports from China is estimated at US$1,200 million in 2011. The API market in China is estimated at US$8,000 million, according to the organisers.
