Waters Corporation has now introduced a novel Screening Platform Solution with UNIFI as well as two new application solutions for pesticide screening and for metabolite identification and quantification. The three new solutions bring everything a laboratory needs--- a common set of UPLC and MS hardware, software, consumables, standards and reagents -all backed by Waters’ service and support organization.

The Platform Screening Solution with UNIFI achieves what has previously been impossible: integrating chromatography and mass spectrometry instrumentation with next-generation informatics to capture both mass spectrometry and chromatography data on one platform.

The new product facilitates data standardization so that information may be exchanged and transferred among departments and third party partners globally.  It enables all laboratory functions to work with a common backbone of analytical information comprised of successful methods, processed results and historical data and reports, breaking the barrier between acquiring analytical knowledge and making important information-driven decisions.

In addition to the Screening Platform Solution with UNIFI, Waters has announced two new applications solutions configured with Waters ACQUITY UPLC I-Class and Xevo G2-S QTof.

The Waters Pesticide Screening Application Solution with UNIFI prepares laboratories to test more food and environmental samples for increasing numbers of residues and contaminants not just at, but below, regulatory limits. The Waters Pesticide Screening Application Solution is custom-built to minimize both false-positive (non-compliant) and negative compliant findings. Now, for the first time, scientists will be able to reliably report the presence or absence of pesticide residues, easily streamline workflows, and increase the speed of analysis of complex matrices.

Waters created a first-of-its-kind, high-quality scientific library of compounds for the system containing not just retention time data, but parent and fragmentation ion data as well, on every compound in the library. Assisted by Waters patented MSE technology, it is the only instrument of its kind that allows scientists to obtain accurate mass fragment ion confirmation in a single injection. The combination of the library together with MSE technology gives the instrument a powerful one-two punch for accurately confirming the presence of pesticide and veterinary residues in a variety of sample matrices.

The company’s  Metabolite Identification Application Solution with UNIFI is the world’s most comprehensive metabolite identification system assisting the DMPK scientist in unprecedented ways in identifying and characterizing and quantifying metabolites in both discovery and development environments, stated the company.

This application solution brings ease and efficiency to the metabolite identification process giving scientists the insight they need to answer the question: “Should this compound go forward?”

UNIFI is designed to handle an array of standard biotransformations and predict structure-specific biotransformations based on the molecules of interest. This allows discovery and development scientists to be far more confident in the integrity, relevancy and completeness of the results. The repository builds over time as each scientist uses and contributes to it, stated the company.
