In a surprise raid conducted in an ayurvedic marketing company’s head office in Chennai, the drugs control department officials seized ayurvedic products worth Rs.2.5 lakhs and produced the confiscated products before the CJM court in Chennai.
The department has registered a case of violation of DMROA Act 1954 against Sashvat Marketing at Sowcarpet in Chennai. The company markets the products manufactured by Surjichem Herbs India in Hisar. Cases have been registered against the Sashvat Marketing and the manufacturer, said J Selvaraju, director of drugs control.
According to him, the company was giving wide publicity for their products violating all the laws and the gullible public was being cheated for years. He said since the products were of ayurveda, the marketing company does not need a sale licence. So he was selling several types of products by giving advertisements in the media. The company was importing all the products from New Delhi. The drugs control department took action because of the dormant attitude of the ISM department towards this kind of unfair business.
The seized items include Gold Night (capsules), a male performance formula. While claiming that the drug is an all-natural herbal sexual enhancement, the company gave advertisement for the product as a safe and extremely effective one giving the body fresh energy.
Piyagra capsule, Piyagra oil and Shilajit Plus are other products publicized widely for the same purpose. The drug control officials have seized plenty of brochures and pamphlets along with bundles of products.
Capsules in the names of Body Power and Blue Heaven, and Body Power powder were the company’s another claim for healthy and strong bodies.
They have also given advertisement for attracting women for getting their breasts shaped well by the consumption of Bust 36 capsules. For fairness and hair growth, another capsule was ready with the company, Face Care, stock of which was also seized by the enforcement officials, the director told this reporter.
For body and joint pains, their solution was consumption of Relax Forte, Delicate and Continuous, all capsules. Height Plus capsules for attracting dwarfs, Lukonil capsules for young girls and More Memory capsules for everybody irrespective of age to enhance the memory power were other items confiscated by the officials.
Ortho Care, Grow Power and Dio Free are other products the marketing company has given advertisement for various claims, Selvaraju said.
