With a view to strengthen its role in the Indian market, Nobel Biocare, a world-leader in implant-based dental restorations, recently informed its plans to further consolidate its efforts in the country. Through this initiative the company plans to support its increasing customer base in India.

To reinforce their agenda, Richard T Laube, CEO Nobel Biocare and Michael Glenn Thompson head of Asia Pacific, are set to meet with leading clinicians and other representatives from the Indian dental community. This activities are aimed at reaffirming the company’s commitment to India and outline their plans for growth within the country.

Laube informed that since India is a very attractive dental market that is expected to grow substantially over the next years and Nobel Biocare will continue partnering with Indian clinicians to help patients achieve improved quality of life. He said, “India has seen a shift in dental implants becoming the preferred treatment for missing teeth. Patient awareness is also on the rise with more opting in favor of fixed implant-based solutions versus conventional removable options. With a full offering of products and solutions to meet this demand, Nobel Biocare can support customers of varying skill levels from beginner to expert throughout the entire treatment workflow.”

He further states that the edentulous market is of particular interest in India. “Edentulous patients are physically impaired according to WHO criteria and studies have shown that conventional dentures restore only 10 per cent of function, whereas dental implants can restore up to 90 per cent. We plan to help dental professionals throughout India engage with the rising edentulous population to spread awareness of the industry-leading edentulous solution offering available to them,” he added.

Nobel Biocare intends to further develop this philosophy in India with training and education programs and value-adding services. Implants and customized solutions like crowns and bridges on natural teeth or implants have been the core business in India. However, the country has long been one that embraced technology which places it in prime position not only for NobelProcera CAD/CAM solutions but also for the safe and predictable benefits offered through guided surgery using the NobelGuide concept which integrates the NobelClinician Software to deliver the latest advancements in diagnostics and treatment planning.

In a major development, Nobel Biocare will host the 'Nobel Biocare Global Symposium 2013' in New York. The event will take place from June 20 to 22 and is chaired by professor George Zarb, will bring together over 70 of the world's most renowned experts and speakers in restorative dentistry to discuss key current and emerging trends as well as techniques and technologies shaping the industry's future.
