The European Association of Hospital Pharmacists (EAHP), an association of national organisations representing hospital pharmacists at European and international levels, has announced the launch of its new website, www.eahp.eu to provide a user friendly source of information for hospital pharmacists across Europe.

The new website will feature forums for various project workgroups and EAHP members with its increasing need to provide information via internet versus email.

The mission of EAHP is to represent and develop the hospital pharmacy profession within Europe in order to ensure the continuous improvement of care and outcomes for patients in the hospital setting. This is achieved through science, research, education, practice, as well as sharing best-practice and responsibility with other healthcare professionals.

In addition, EAHP has implemented a social media presence to extend the external communications of EAHP and provide online platforms for the organisation to engage with key audiences such as: hospital pharmacists, future hospital pharmacists, policy makers at European and national level, event sponsors and supporters and other stakeholders to the profession e.g. healthcare professionals, industry and patients.

The goals of EAHP are: to develop hospital pharmacy in order to promote the best and safest use of medicines and medical devices for the benefit of patients in Europe, to create a platform for the education and training of hospital pharmacists to a level of specialisation and maintain continuing professional development (CPD) and to uphold the interests and advance the position of European hospital pharmacists within the healthcare systems, the EU and national authorities.

The combination of the new web site and social media presence will surely make the www.eahp.eu web site the first choice to find information related to the practice of hospital pharmacy and its importance to patients.
