S K Patel College of Pharmaceutical Education & Research, Gujarat, a constituent college of Ganpat University, is organizing a three-day national workshop on “Training and Hands on Molecular Biotechnology Tools & Techniques” from 10 to 12 September, 2012 at the college. The main objective of this workshop is to provide participants with basic training in molecular biology tools and techniques and scientific concepts through a blend of theoretical and 'hands on' experience.
Sponsored by the Department of Biotechnology (DBT), this training course has been designed specially for the young faculty members, research scholar and students teaching and studying in biotechnology or molecular biology. This workshop will also include the lecture series by eminent scientists focused on the concepts and applications underlying these techniques.
Dr Vipul P Patel, convenor of the seminar said, “We hope this course will be helpful for some teachers to conduct molecular biology and biotechnology practical classes. The workshop will promote interactions with laboratory scientists through an immersion in the research environment.” He further added that this will be a live demonstration and it will be difficult to give hands on training to all the students from biotechnology, especially from molecular biotechnology students.
In this workshop, various themes like genetic engineering tools & technique, polymerase chain reaction (PCR) and proteomics will also be covered. Students participating in this seminar will get to know different techniques in research in molecular techniques as we are based mostly in pharmaceutical education and research, informed Dr Patel.
This workshop is for all academicians/researchers/students of graduate & undergraduate in relevant subject areas, lifesciences, etc.
Various eminent resource persons from academia and industry will be part of this national workshop. These resource persons will deliver in-depth information in the scientific and technical sessions in the programme.
